What if the one who is destined for Christmas this year, the one to arrive upon the scene Christmas morning, is no one other than who weāve been looking for?Ā The Jewish nation was oppressed heavily by Roman rule and persecution.Ā Their faith was in another to come, the Messiah, who would deliver them from all their taxation, their poverty, their subjugation.
We need to have a living faith, but in times of difficulty all I can muster is, āHe promised!āĀ Yes, God willĀ make it better.Ā GodĀ willĀ overcome.Ā But what can I do with today?Ā As I walk up to an empty cross I gaze upon where He was.Ā He was here for me then.Ā I know in my heart that Heās gone to prepare a place for me in heaven.Ā There are so many prayers that He has yet to answer though.Ā What are we missing as believers?
Itās hard to imagine, but the Christmas story is the solution to our frailty.Ā To make God move, we show God our best side⦠amazing faith.Ā But the Christ infant merely was.Ā We show God patience beyond words⦠but without a word to form, Jesus merely wept.Ā We give God so much devotion that sometimes itās hard to see why⦠oh right God, I forget.Ā Itās about love.
Presents come and go, and childlike wonder seems to be the ultimate human experience around this time of the year.Ā Children donāt have to try hard to appreciate Christmas, they just do.Ā Can we keep Christmas in our hearts?Ā It depends on our perspective.Ā Are weĀ trying to have a childlike wonder?Ā If so, then I think weāve missed the point.
